(страхование ответственности производителя) Страхование, покрывающее любую компенсацию, которую страхователь юридически обязан выплатить умершим, искалеченным или потерпевшим имущественные убытки клиентам в результате наличия дефекта в произведенном или реализованном страхователем изделии. Издержки, возникающие вследствие данного дефекта, но не относящиеся к оговоренным в законе видам ущерба (damages), данным страхованием не покрываются.
